Q: TARDIS? Time Lord? Ed, are you feeling all right?

A: Yes, I'm feeling fine, but thanks for asking! Anyway, to explain the theme of my website: early on in my life I imprinted on a British TV show called Dr. Who (the longest-running scifi- show ever, incidentally). It details the adventures of a time-travelling alien called the Doctor, who travels through time and space in his TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space), a vehicle capable of travelling anywhere, and that is infinitely larger on the inside than on the outside. Theoretically its shape is also infinitely variable, but the Doctor's TARDIS is somewhat defective (ie, stolen), and it got stuck in the shape of an old-style British police box--hence the graphic on my splash page.

Q: Nice segue--what's up with that graphic, anyway?

A: The TARDIS I drew myself using the Paint program--it's not even close to being perfect, but I think it's pretty good for a first effort! The image of me with a Doctor makeover was done years ago by cartoonist/caricaturist Jody A. Morse, who drew the sketch during a break while I still worked at the University of Puget Sound. I took a picture of the sketch with my digital camera, and the rest is history.

Q: Hey, I know this show--isn't the Doctor supposed to have a curvy assistant that travels with him?

A: The position of Companion is currently open--feel free to send your resume and photos to me here!
