Sample Holy Symbols: while there are common themes in holy symbols, the actual forms are quite varied, with different designs across orders or even individuals. Much like a wizard's staff or a warrior's sword, a cleric's holy item is a very personal thing, and is customized accordingly.


Soledon: Stern. Unyielding. Regimented. Passionate. All these traits and more have been used to describe the god who gifted Terok with its sun, and birthed the race of humans. A straightforward deity, Soledon rarely wavers once he's made a decision, a trait he strives to pass on to his people. Some believe that it is this burning passion that gives the humans the shortest lifespan of all the favored races--the price for the ambition so many of them display. Whether this is true or not, his followers are often driven, passionate, and ambitious, striving to do great things in whatever time they have been given.

Dundar: Far from being the humorless being many who have dealt with dwarves expect, Dundar is portrayed as a good-natured, inquisitive entity who filled the earth with treasures for his children to discover, knowing that they would have to work long and hard to reach them. By giving the dwarves this challenge, he ensured that they would seek ways to overcome it, leading to a level of education that startles many outsiders when they learn of it. This philosophy of "the work is as important as the reward" has spread beyond the dwarves over time, leading many scholars to embrace Dundar as the father of knowledge, albeit knowledge of a practical nature.

Feydren: The first to introduce life into the world, and the patient deity who created the elves only after seeing what her siblings had created, Feydren is often portrayed as a quiet, almost shy being, who is most at peace amongst the simplicity of nature.

Hilda: The ignorant are sometimes surprised to see followers of Hilda attending as many deathbeds, as births--to her clergy, however, birth and death are simply different stages of life, each as important as the other. It is understood that Hilda loves all living things, but she loves them as much as when their bodies return to the earth, as when they're walking upon it.

Yvinne: A somewhat mysterious deity to the land-dwelling races, Yvinne dealt mostly with matters concerning the waters of Terok, from the seas and lakes to the rivers and streams. Oddly, however, ancient shrines to the goddess are sometimes found miles away from any body of water. The superstitious claim that such marked land is destined for flooding, and few build in such a place. Like the oceans themselves, the goddess can go from serenity to rage in a moment's notice, leaving nothing but destruction in her wake.

Gohbal: Sometimes mockingly referred to as "Gobble" in the Common tongue, this deity is often portrayed as mean-spirited, combative, and greedy. Not surprisingly, these characteristics appeal to a certain kind of individual, and so Gohbal has no shortage of followers, though they generally don't display their allegiance openly (there are few known shrines or temples devoted to Gohbal, and in churches that cater to all gods, Gohbal is rarely given a place).

Rishka: Some call this god the Bringer of Greed; others argue he gifted the races with Choice. His name is a common swear word, but nearly everyone finds themself praying to him at some point or another, when all other avenues have been exhausted. Unpredictable by nature, his motives and desires remain a mystery, though he is known to despise hypocrisy. His followers are a diverse lot, though they normally share a desire to let chance (or Rishka's will--but really, is there a difference?) guide them, along with an inability to allow things to remain static.
